Sprinkler Backflow Testing

The Plainfield Township Water Department sent a letter this week to residents located south of the Grand River that use irrigation systems on how to get their system’s backflow device tested.

For residents in this area, the backflow device must be tested by an American Society of Sanitary Engineering certified tester, as required by state law. The letter provides steps on how to schedule a test and the requirements for submitting results to the Township.

An irrigation system backflow device prevents backflow of irrigation water, which may contain chemicals or fertilizers, from entering your home plumbing and the public water systems. Testing for residential systems are required every three years.
